CC6 Janesmoor Pond
The girls pipped the boys 6-5 at the latest round of the CC6 series at the infamous Janesmoor. A chilly, sunny day for our runners who were greeted by hills, mud, jelly babies and even carols played on a French horn (or was it a Tuba Jimmy ??) . Here's how they all fared :-

Christmas Pudding 10k
Good to see this popular 10k back on the racing calendar and an amazing 33 NFR's took part, with more than a few PBs to boot. Frank "Mr Consistency" Handy was first our first finisher in 36.04, astonishingly within 3 seconds of his other 2 10k finishes this year !!! Given that he's achieved the same feat with his 3 half marathons this year, we really need to make Frank our pacing coach !
Richard Lewis was next home in 41.20 just ahead of Chloe Woolf 41.44 and Becky Hollowbread 41.57. Well done to all who took part, it looks like you all had fun judging by the photos on the Facebook
page and here's the provisional results
Bovington Half and Full
White Star Running's reputation continues to grow with another superbly organised marathon and half which drew a good contingent of NFRs. However, there's no results up yet so i'll save this one for next week !!
Heartbreaker Tailwind 10
The small but popular RaceNewForest events always fill up fast which probably explains why only 3 NFR's tackled this tricky 10 miler. Andy Thomas was first home in 1.20.08 narrowly ahead of Matt Cafferky (1.20.25) with Lucy Brewis (1.56.34) making up the trio.
Job Opportunities !!
At tonight's committee meeting, we discussed various roles with in the club and are asking for your assistance to fill them.
Events Sub-committee........ Matt Cafferky is looking for a nucleus of people to help with the running of the club's events. Most are well established and organisation is fairly easy, it's just a case of many hands making lighter work. We're planning to have another meeting in the new year so if you are interested in helping out, please watch this space.
Junior Helpers ................... We're looking for parents or members who would be willing to help with the running of junior sessions. This will almost certainly involve taking a one day LiRF course (which the club will pay for) and involve being DBS checked.
Website Developer ............ After years of sterling work, our webmaster Colin Waters is logging out, many thanks Col. We're looking at ways to take the website forward and this may involve employing a professional to redevelop it. If anyone has experience of web development or working with Wordpress and could spare the time, that would be a great help.
Welfare Officer .................. The club needs 2 welfare officers, one male one female to be the first point of contact for any members and juniors who have any worries or concerns.
If you feel that you could help with any of these roles, please reply back to this email... many thanks in advance.
New Year's Day Run
On New Year’s Day Sue & Andy will organise a run at Milford on Sea. It will be 6.5 miles, with a 4.5 mile option. Arrive at 10:45am for instructions at the Sea Road Car Park in Milford village centre (this is NOT the car park at the beach end of Sea Road) - car park is near /next to the Smugglers Pub just over the stream. Alternative parking in the village - please check restrictions. Run will start at 11am prompt. Multi-terrain course on & off road. All abilities welcome - this is a social run. Non club members welcome. Course will be marked but not marshalled, we will have a leader & sweeper. We may have the luxury of someone in the middle! Join us afterwards in the Smugglers for a pub lunch or just for a sociable drink. Pub open 12-4pm. Anyone staying for lunch rather than just drinking can give their names to Sue, to ensure a seat is reserved. Or to book your own table the Smugglers is on 01590 644414.
The AGM will take place on Thursday 26th Jan at Fawcetts Clubhouse with a 7.30pm start. I've attached a nomination form for anyone who would like to be considered for the club committee and also on this form, is a section for any proposals to be raised at the meeting. It's your club so please have your say in how it's run and where we go in the future.
Here is a message from Paul Bailey regarding the upcoming ParkRun awayday trip to the Island.
"Guys and Girls the Great NFR Gatsby day draws closer. Booked a small coach (33 seater) to meet us at our running club base on Sat 17th Dec at 6.55am leaving at 7.05am to catch the 7.40am Lymington ferry. After the challenge of this IOW Park Run, sing songs and scrummy breakfast washed down with much tea and hot chocolate, our bunch of weary but happy go lucky adventurers will be returned via aforementioned coach and ferry to the clubhouse by approx 1.45pm. The rest will be told in tales of NFR folklore! Make sure you are part of it and consider the £25 cost as simply a Xmas present to yourself (you know you deserve it!). Will be collecting monies on Tuesday and Thursday training sessions and Wilverley Park Runs. 4 or 5 places left so be quick or be sad all Christmas...!!!"
