NFR Bulletin w/c 19th Dec 2016

Hi All

Less than week to go before the big day so I hope you've all finished your shopping and bought your hard working editor something nice ??!!
There's quite a few alterations to your club running over the next couple of weeks so please check out "The Next Fortnight" guide below for details
Here's a great write up from the Bournemouth Echo about the Pudding 10k

There's only a few tickets remaining for the first ever NFR Awards evening on Friday 20th Jan so make sure that you don't miss out on the piece of your club's history !!
With not much happening on the race front this week, this will be the last bulletin of the year, returning on 2nd Jan.
So all that remains for me to say is a massive thank you on behalf of all the committee for all your support and help with events, coaching sessions etc and to wish you all a happy festive season and a PB filled New Year.

Christmas XC
Well, you asked for mud and boy did you get it with yesterday's Christmas XC certainly living up to all expectations. It was great to see everyone getting into the festive spirit with some amazing fancy dress outfits and it was the navity scene (aided by a real life donkey !) who scooped first prize. There are loads of fantastic photos on the Facebook page and a brilliant video from Paul Pocock on Youtube. A big thank you to Mike Ryan, Paul Goode and all the army of helpers who made this another awesome NFR experience.

Portsmouth Coastal Marathon
Congratulations to Chloe Woolf who opted for a slightly less muddy run around Portsmouth Harbour and was rewarded with a very impressive time of 3hrs 23.41 finishing 7th lady and 88th overall.

IOW Parkrun
Many thanks to Paul Bailey for organising a highly successful trip over the water to take on the IOW Parkrun at Medina on Saturday. 21 NFRs enjoined the charabanc jaunt and here's the results

Bovington Half
I know that I promised a report from Bovvy but looking at the results, the search engine is showing Marie Sharma as the only NFR finisher !! So as not to disappoint our other runners, I'll let you look for familiar names in the results yourselves !!

New Year's Day Run
On New Year’s Day Sue & Andy will organise a run at Milford on Sea. It will be 6.5 miles, with a 4.5 mile option. Arrive at 10:45am for instructions at the Sea Road Car Park in Milford village centre (this is NOT the car park at the beach end of Sea Road) - car park is near /next to the Smugglers Pub just over the stream. Alternative parking in the village - please check restrictions. Run will start at 11am prompt. Multi-terrain course on & off road. All abilities welcome - this is a social run. Non club members welcome. Course will be marked but not marshalled, we will have a leader & sweeper. We may have the luxury of someone in the middle! Join us afterwards in the Smugglers for a pub lunch or just for a sociable drink. Pub open 12-4pm. Anyone staying for lunch rather than just drinking can give their names to Sue, to ensure a seat is reserved. Or to book your own table the Smugglers is on 01590 644414.

London Marathon Places
Congratulations to Matt Cafferky and Katrin Pritchard who are the lucky winners of the club places for next year's London marathon. The hard work starts now guys.

Club AGM
The AGM will take place on Thursday 26th Jan at Fawcetts Clubhouse with a 7.30pm start. I've attached a nomination form for anyone who would like to be considered for the club committee and also on this form, is a section for any proposals to be raised at the meeting. It's your club so please have your say in how it's run and where we go in the future.

Job Opportunities !!
At our recent committee meeting, we discussed various roles with in the club and are asking for your assistance to fill them.
Events Sub-committee........ Matt Cafferky is looking for a nucleus of people to help with the running of the club's events. Most are well established and organisation is fairly easy, it's just a case of many hands making lighter work. We're planning to have another meeting in the new year so if you are interested in helping out, please watch this space.
Junior Helpers ................... We're looking for parents or members who would be willing to help with the running of junior sessions. This will almost certainly involve taking a one day LiRF course (which the club will pay for) and involve being DBS checked.
Website Developer ............ After years of sterling work, our webmaster Colin Waters is logging out, many thanks Col. We're looking at ways to take the website forward and this may involve employing a professional to redevelop it. If anyone has experience of web development or working with Wordpress and could spare the time, that would be a great help.
Welfare Officer .................. The club needs 2 welfare officers, one male one female to be the first point of contact for any members and juniors who have any worries or concerns.
If you feel that you could help with any of these roles, please reply back to this email... many thanks in advance.

Junior section

"Hello all, on the 7th January 2017 the Hampshire Cross Country Championships are taking place at Fairthorne Manor near Botley. This is the perfect opportunity for those who have not competed for our club to do so, and also offers our regular competitors the chance of county selection.

This year we are asking athletes to enter individually online, the cost is £8.00, please follow this link http://www.hampshireathletics.org.uk/events/xcc.html

If you are keen to take part please complete the online entry and let me know at the club or by email at nfrjuniorcoach@gmail.com

As usual participants should meet me there at least one hour before their race. Adult supervision is essential as the coaches are busy with warm ups etcetera. Sharing transport has worked well in previous years. This is your opportunity to represent your club and have some fun, so we would like to see a big turnout for this event."

   Happy running

      Steve Morton ( Junior coach)
