Junior Training Groups

Club training is split into various groups depending on age and target goals.


The Quadkids group is the all about fun! It caters for children aged between 8 and 11 years old who are interested in running and athletics.

Session times:

  • Thursday 19:00 - 20:00.

Performance Groups

The performance groups are designed for junior athletes who compete. Entry to this group is not by ability, but by selecting SMART goals and then performing at.

The performance groups follow a periodised training plan for middle/endurance juniors. They receive coaching from experienced coaches who have been competitive runners. They will receive a performance diary, guidance on competition selection, instruction on race preparation.

Senior county level athletes are allocated their own mentor coach. This person can provide additional expertise and guidance outside the main training sessions.

Session times:

  • Tuesday 18:30 - 20:00
  • Thursday 19:00 - 20:00
  • Saturday morning (individual 1:1 sessions). Invitation only or Parkrun
  • Sunday 09:30 - 11:00
  • + individual training.

Recreational Group

The recreational group is for juniors who want to keep fit, meet up with friends and participate in local running events. In this group we follow the format of the performance groups, but with less adherence to goal setting, drills and competition.

This group is also for performance athletes who are returning from injury or need a break from racing.

  • Thursday 19:00 - 20:00
